Rentwell is YWCA Canberra’s community housing program providing safe, secure and affordable rental homes for people on moderate incomes who are locked out of Canberra’s private rental market. We connect propert owners who want to make a social impact with tenants who need affordable homes.
Teachers, nurses, childcare educators, aged care workers, public servants, tradespeople, and hospitality workers — the essential workers who keep Canberra running and who are increasingly priced out of the city’s rental market.
Rentwell properties are rented at a minimum of 25% below market rate, giving tenants stability and breathing room while offering property owners a full land tax exemption through the ACT Government’s Affordable Community Housing Land Tax Exemption scheme. Property owners also receive a tax-deductible receipt from YWCA Canberra for the value of the foregone rent.
